Eagle New Energy Ltd, a sister company to Multi Fab Ltd, has recently been set up specifically to expand into the renewable energy market.    Currently concentrating on the supply and installation of photovoltaic panels to the domestic and commercial construction markets, the company is looking to market an entire suite of complementary renewable energy products.   The company is an accredited installer under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme ("MCS").

how does it work ?
Photovoltaics, or PV solar panels, produce electricity from sunlight, by converting solar radiation into electricity using semi conductors. A PV panel consists of two layers of semi conductor material, one of which is positively charged, the other negatively charged.    This produces a flow of direct current electricity between the two layers.   A device called an inverter converts this DC supply into AC electricity, making it suitable for use within the property it is installed in.
MFL photovoltaic panels PV panels will work whatever the level of sunlight, even on cloudy days. The most efficient method of electricity production occurs by installing the panels in a southerly direction (often by installing on an existing roof using a metal frame system), at an angle of 30 to 40 degrees to the horizontal.

The precise optimum tilt angle depends on the precise location of the PV installation, calculated at the number of degrees of latitude of the location less 20 degrees.   For example, an installation at a site which is 50 degrees of latitude needs to be at an angle of 30 degrees to the horizontal.

PV installations in many European countries, particularly Spain and Germany, have increased exponentially in recent years.   The take up in the UK has, however, been much more low key.   This has already started to change, with a marked increase in UK installations in 2010, which is forecast to continue to grow in the next few years.  Why is this ?    New legislation, introduced in the UK in 2010, produces a significant financial benefit to customers.   This is described more fully in the "photovoltaic benefits" section, below.

Why use Eagle New Energy Ltd ?    The advantage that Eagle New Energy has over a number of other suppliers is that it is a genuine one stop shop for the entire process of purchasing and installing a PV system.   The dedicated sales & marketing team, backed up by our own in house designers, will rapidly turn your enquiry into a firm quotation, backed up by detailed designs.  An extensive range of stocked items will ensure rapid turnaround of orders, which will then be installed to your requirements by our dedicated team of installers.    The company deals with all of the major PV manufacturers, such as Schuco and Romag for modules, SMA and Fronius for inverters, which enables Eagle New Energy to provide the best systems at competitive prices.   We have the financial and manpower muscle to fulfil every type of installation, from small scale domestic jobs to large commercial installations.

Reduction of electricity costs - The "Feed in tariff"
The benefit of installing PV panels in the UK increased markedly on 1st April 2010. New legislation gave rise to the "feed in tariff", currently yielding the owner of PV panels 43.3p per kWh of electricity generated. This gives cost savings in two ways:

1. Electricity generated for own use – any electricity generated gives two financial benefits to the homeowner – firstly, there is no cost of using the electricity generated. Secondly, in addition the homeowner can apply for a feed in tariff of 43.3p per kWh to their energy supplier.    In other words, the homeowner is paid for the electricity consumed, rather than having to pay for it !

2. Surplus energy sold to the National Grid – should the electricity generated by PV panels exceed the usage required by that household, then the owner can sell the surplus to the National Grid, at a slightly higher rate of 46.4p per kWh.   All domestic households are currently deemed to export 50% of their electricity to the national grid.   This means that you will receive 46.4p per kWh for 50% of all electricty generated, even if you are actually generating no surplus at all !

For all PV installations prior to 31st March 2012, this level of tariff is guaranteed for 25 years, is index linked to the retail price index and is classed as tax free.

Typically, a PV installation will therefore give an 8-10% return on investment per annum, tax free.
